The Latest News In The CC Community
Hello Everyone :)
Simon here! Iām writing this from sunny Austin TX with full hearts - the past few months have been some of the most fulfilling within the Camp Community!
For 5 days we hosted 25 incredible creatives, artists, & entrepreneurs in Northern California for our second-ever Base Camp event. Of course, it wouldnāt have been a Creator Camp event without Mother Nature interfering, but the week was one of the most incredible experiences weāve been able to be a part of.
I could not be more grateful for the new friendships and bonds formed that week! Huge thank you again to Jessica, Andrea, and the entire team over at Playbook for helping us bring Base Camp to life!
Watch Paoloās, Jesses's, & Katrinaās films of Base Camp for a different perspective on the experience.
In addition, whisperings of a few new Camp members house hunting in Austin have started to spread, excited to continue building the squad down here ;)
Our Next Season: Nurturing Originality šāØ
āNothing changes culture that isnāt newā
Our Mission: We believe that through creative collaboration & meaningful storytelling, we can shape a better internet.
As some of you may know, in the last month or so weāve committed to taking a step back to rest, regroup, and think through what the next year of Creator Camp looks like. The past year and a half of events have essentially been run at cost, hoping to curate the best experience we can.
We wanted to ensure that as we continue hosting events and growing this amazing community we have a clear intention set forward.
Hereās the thing: while hosting events to foster friendship and community is great, we strongly believe that we can collectively have a greater impact.
For most creatives, we learn to make a wide variety of creations until one thing sticks and then you continue to iterate on whatever works over and over and over. You scroll Instagram Reels and start to see the same compositions, the same trending sounds, and videos start to contain similar thumbnails/pacing. Novel formats come rarely and often become repeatable. Itās through these iterations that invisible walls begin to appear.
The internet is an amazing place but itās also the worldās best producer of creative silos.
This is not a new discovery by any means. Itās something weāve frequently talked about over the past two years. To push against this and expand our mission we want to introduce the idea of a āseasonā.
For us, weāve traditionally held stand-alone events that serve as singular moments in time, but weāve come to realize that we can have a much larger impact if there is a cohesive narrative that spans a series of events.
This is exactly what we hope to hone in on in this next āseasonā of Creator Camp which will be focused around the theme of Originality.
Essentially trying our best to answer the question: How can we create space for more original work to thrive outside of any algorithm or boundary?
Whether it comes in encouraging cross-collaboration, providing resources and tools, or just having access to the support of the community, by focusing on this we have a good feeling that we can help push forward unique ideas and contribute to the creation of a more colorful internet.
When is the next Camp event?š„š²š
Weāve got a lot in the works, itās gonna be an exciting year & I canāt wait to embark on this journey alongside all of you. Who knowsā¦ there might even be a trip back to Needle Rock Lodge in the deck of cards this summer :)
If you are a brand that wants to get involved in our next event or this entire season of Creator Camp feel free to shoot a message to our lovely Canadian head of partnerships: [email protected]
